Sonic Colors Gameplay

Sonic Colors is a platform game in the Sonic the Hedgehog series. First announced in, 2010, including a teaser trailer, the game was released for the Wii and Nintendo DS in several counties like Australia, Europe, North America; and Japan.

The Sonic colors games revolve around the protagonist Sonic the Hedgehog and his fight against, Dr. Eggman, the main antagonist of the Sonic series. During the course of the game, the camera perspective toggles sometimes from third person to side-scrolling. The idea for the game to sets in an amusement park, with a unique music score. The interchanging perspective in the exciting Sonic colors gameplay shows off the game’s box art.

Sega had revealed that they were developing the Sonic colors game for a wide demographic, targeting both older and younger consumers. Using power-ups, the player can increase their attack power, reaching places they cannot otherwise. Overall, Sonic Colors has received mostly positive reviews. The presentation, with excellent graphics and music, as well as the interchanging perspective and the game power-ups are enough to keep the game exciting and action packed at all levels.

During the Sonic colors gameplay, the player can make use of the colored energy gained from different types of Wisps as power-ups to explore new areas. There are a total of eight Wisps in the Wii version and six in the DS version, while Wisps are exclusive to each version of Sonic colors games.

Players who pre-ordered the Japanese version of the Sonic colors game also got a special card compatible with the arcade game. The US players received a Sonic shaped hat, while figures of Sonic and the Wisps were included in a special edition sold in Europe. The reception for Sonic Colors was mostly positive. Nominated for Best Platformer Game at 2010 awards, it looked and performed even better than the retro-inspired Sonic.

It was nominated for “Best Wii game”, but lost to Epic Mickey.
